Morality out the window, after all its Halle!

October 08, 2007

OK, I am ready to take the hit on this….Now, do not get me wrong, I hail Berry just like the next person, but had she been a regular around the way girl she would be criticized for having a baby out of wedlock, having unprotected sex and managing to not get pregnant by two black husbands of 6 years combined, but get pregnant by the non-black boyfriend of less than 24 months. Go figure.

I am not saying race has anything to do with this, but it does make you say Hmmmm. One more thing….Didn’t we all just sit through a 2 day town hall meeting wherein Oprah had the who’s who in media talking about the messages hip hop sends to African American women? Well OK, help me somebody, what message is this?

Calling All African American Attorneys!

April 29, 2007

Our community and our colleagues have spoken; they do not know where to find qualified black lawyers. It is my intention to create a list of qualified African American attorneys, which will serve as a resource for clients and employers, and produce referrals for you.

Please post your name, specialty, years in the industry, and contact information, and we will add you to the list. Feel free to include your web address. Encourage every African American lawyer you know to do the same. All submissions should include a valid email address. Together we can make a difference.

April 28, 2007

Read Tony Blair’s opinion about Blacks and rising crime in London. Political correctness aside, he blames the crime in London on Black culture …

April 13, 2007

Yes, I said that. Sure, I hate what he said, I hate how it affected the team, I hate what it means to me. I hate it. I still think firing him was a wasted opportunity. Want to know why? Check out the May edition of I’m Just Saying Newletter it is all there.

Another racial blooper

April 11, 2007

Deja vu? I have been here before. Michael Roberts, Imus, and on and on like the break of dawn. Wave your hands in the air like you just don’t care what you say about/to black people. Personally, I am growing weary of the merry go race-around. OK, so Imus is fired for calling the Rutgers basketball team nappy-headed-hos. But when one of our own slides a credit card down a woman’s backside on national television it is just another round the way ho. Don’t get me wrong, I am not condoning Imus, I just abhor the double standard. To say that Imus’ statements are appalling is an understatement. What I see on television by blacks about blacks is equally as discouraging. Sometimes even more-so, because it is accepted and goes unchallenged for the most part. Despite what anyone thinks about Jewish people, EVERYONE (except Mel Gibson) knows that if they utter such slurs about any Jewish person there will be hell to pay. It would not take days to determine whether or not to suspend or fire the speaker–freedom of speech notwithstanding. Say something disgusting about black folks? They may or may not pay as much as a fine, and in some instances it will be a tap on the hand. Black people, it is said, say enough degrading things about themselves… how can we expect anyone to take our pain seriously? Radio personalities Opie and Andie or whatever their names are, put it right out there. They read the lines from famous rap songs on the air and compared them to Imus’ words, and called criticism of Imus fake and hyped garbage, in so many words. Yeah yeah yeah…. I know, the response, “we can say what we want to about us, they can’t.” Well, when have you ever heard a Jewish men bash Jewish women in the media? Have you ever seen any other race publicly disgrace their own using the worst and most insensitive racial words to address one another, and call it a term of endearment? Well, I for one think we set the tone for this abuse. I am not blaming the victim for the crime–totally– I don’t think black people are to blame for racism and racist statements. I just think that we need to recognize that hypocrisy is hypocrisy and there is a price to pay, a burden to bear.
I am disgusted with Imus. I am disgusted with Michael Richards. I am equally annoyed with the black community. I am annoyed with myself for buying the rap music that glorifies the use of the N word. I think the black community needs to pull the 2×4 put its own eyes before trying to correct everyone else’s vision. It just is not OK to be the pot that calls the kettle black.
